Manjistha Ahooja (B.E., Biotechnology, University of Mumbai; MSc., Microbiology and Immunology, University of Nottingham, UK) worked at Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai as a Research Fellow at the Molecular Diagnostic and Translational Medicine Department. In addition to her work with research projects and diagnostic tests at TMC, she was involved in preparing project proposals, budgets, quality control procedures, including audits for the lab. Reflecting upon diagnostic testing with regard to patient care, she realized she must broaden her focus beyond science to include practical considerations such as cost, turn-around time, and accessibility and feasibility when developing tests.

She desires to understand the complex process of developing a scientific discovery into a commercialized product with the hope of benefiting clinicians, patients and diagnosticians alike. She strongly feels that this degree will increase her business knowledge and help her gain a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of technology transfer, thereby enabling her to function competently across academia and private industry.
