Wireless Laptop Connectivity

Requirements

It is required that all students have a laptop for use in the program. Additionally, students are urged to have laptops with wireless capability for connecting to the wireless network in our classrooms.

Note: We also will offer standard wired connections to the university's high-speed network.

Recommendations

Most new laptops today are shipped with built-in wireless network cards. If your laptop does not have wireless capabilities, affordable wireless cards can be purchased at the DoIT Tech Store.

Suggested wireless card at the DoIT Tech Store

Orinoco Silver PCMCIA 802.11B card (~ $40)

Please note, wireless cards by other companies will work just well as long as they are "802.11B" or "802.11G" compliant (industry-standard protocols for wireless networks). The above card is simply a suggestion for your convenience.
