Thank you for your
interest in the Systems Biology Cluster Hiring
Initiative at the University of Wisconsin (UW)
– Madison.
In 1998, the University
of Wisconsin launched the Cluster Hiring Initiative
to advance interdisciplinary research in new
and emerging areas. Faculty in these clusters
work independently and together to develop new
knowledge that is then integrated into academic
curricula and applied to benefit society. To
date, Cluster Hiring Initiatives have recruited
over 100 new faculty in the biological and physical
sciences, humanities and social sciences at
UW-Madison.
As part of this
initiative, UW-Madison and UW Medical School
will recruit up to seven
new positions in Systems Biology.
This field achieves understanding of both
simple
and complex systems by identifying and filling
gaps in our knowledge about molecules and
molecular
processes, by determining the molecular processes
that are required to confer a specific activity
or phenotype, and integrating this knowledge
into more complete models of biological function
and dysfunction.
